As we all know all great players usually have one or more parts of their game that they really excel at. Players like Kobe Bryant and Allen Iverson were really great scorers. Scottie Pippen and Gary Payton were two players that excelled on the defensive side of the ball. Speaking of defense, there have been some players in particular that have been able to excel in not just overall defense, but shot blocking as well. Hakeem Olajuwon has the most blocked shots in NBA history with 3,830 blocked shots. Legendary players Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain were also great shot blockers in their era. However as time has passed in the NBA there have been a handful of guards in NBA history that have been able to get their fair share of blocked shots too. George Gervin played the shooting guard position and was able to block 1,047 shots. Pretty impressive for a guard if you ask me. Then there is Dwyane Wade who most would say is the greatest shot blocking guard of all time. Michael Jordan is also in that conversation. But where do they rank in my top 5? Is Dwyane Wade truly the greatest shot blocking guard of all time? Comment and let me know what you think of my list.
- Dwyane Wade
- Michael Jordan
- George Gervin
